Actor Stephen Graham has confirmed the principal cast for Michael Mann’s Heat 2, the sequel and prequel to the 1995 crime classic. The film will feature a new generation of actors stepping into iconic roles.

Leonardo DiCaprio will portray Chris Shiherlis, the character originally played by Val Kilmer. Christian Bale is set to take over the role of Detective Vincent Hanna, originally played by Al Pacino. Stephen Graham will play a younger version of Neil McCauley, the character originated by Robert De Niro, during the film's flashback sequences.

Michael Mann is writing and directing the production, which is based on a novel he co-wrote with Meg Gardiner. The film is expected to begin filming in November, with a potential release window in late 2027 or early 2028. Other reported cast members include Adam Driver, Jason Clarke, and Odessa Young.
