Stephen 'Kiki' Ramos First Haitian‑Born Player to Appear for Argentina U‑17

Seventeen‑year‑old Stephen "Kiki" Ramos, born in Port‑au‑Prince, Haiti, made his debut for the Argentina U‑17 national team in a friendly against Ecuador, becoming the first Haitian‑born footballer to play for any Argentine side. Adopted by an Argentine family after the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Ramos developed in Vélez Sarsfield’s youth system, scoring 12 goals in the 2026 season before earning a call‑up from coach Diego Placente. He entered the second half of the 2‑1 win in Lanús, marking a historic milestone for diversity in Argentine football.

Ramos is eligible for both Haiti and Argentina but has stated his strong identification with Argentina, the country where he was raised and trained. His appearance is part of the squad’s preparation for upcoming tournaments such as the FIFA U‑17 World Cup.
