Stephen King adaptations mark 50 years of Carrie

The 50th anniversary of Brian de Palma’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘Carrie’ highlights the enduring legacy of King’s work in popular culture. While the 1976 film, starring Sissy Spacek, remains one of the highest-rated adaptations on Rotten Tomatoes with a 94% score, the story has seen various iterations, including a 2013 remake and a new limited Amazon Prime TV series.

The new series, created by Mike Flanagan, features Summer H. Howell as Carrietta White. The adaptation introduces new elements, such as the character Emaline, and updates the depiction of bullying for a modern audience.

Other highly-rated Stephen King adaptations include ‘1922’ (92%), ‘Gerald’s Game’ (91%), and ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ (89%).
