Stephen King’s ‘Desperation’ set for film, Sam Raimi to produce
Searchlight Pictures is developing a feature‑film adaptation of Stephen King’s 1996 horror novel Desperation. The project will be produced by Sam Raimi through his Ghost House Pictures banner, marking the first collaboration between the author and the veteran horror director. Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein – the duo behind Final Destination: Bloodlines – have been tapped to helm the movie and will also serve as producers. Screenwriter Ryan Brennan is writing the script. The story follows a group of travelers stranded in a remote Nevada desert town where a sadistic sheriff, possessed by an ancient entity called Tak, turns routine arrests into a deadly fight for survival. No cast, production start date or release window has been announced. The novel was previously adapted as a television movie in 2006, but this will be the first full‑length cinematic version.
