Stephen Vogt to remain Cleveland Guardians manager

Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt has confirmed he will return to lead the team for the upcoming season, dismissing recent speculation regarding a potential move to the Seattle Mariners. Vogt, who previously served as the Mariners’ bullpen coach, stated, “I’ll be in Cleveland. I’m here. I’m coming back.”

Vogt’s decision follows a 2026 postseason run where the Guardians reached the American League Championship Series before losing to the Tampa Bay Rays. The manager, a former American League Manager of the Year finalist, is under a multiyear extension signed after the 2024 campaign.

In addition to Vogt’s return, the Guardians announced that pitching coach Carl Willis is also expected to return for the 2027 season. Willis has been with the organization since 2018 and has overseen a pitching staff that has maintained an ERA below 4.00 in eight of the last nine seasons.
