Stern magazine compares Trump family to Bolsonaro clan

The German weekly magazine Stern has published a report analyzing the extensive political influence of the Bolsonaro family in Brazil. The publication characterized the family's political reach as unprecedented, stating, “The Trumps seem like a nice suburban family compared to the Bolsonaro clan.”

According to the report, 18 candidates with the Bolsonaro surname are running in the current Brazilian elections, eight of whom are direct members of the family core. These include Flávio Bolsonaro, Michelle Bolsonaro, Renato Bolsonaro, Carlos Bolsonaro, and Jair Renan. The magazine notes that the scale of this family involvement finds no parallel in other political dynasties, such as the Bushes in the United States or the Le Pens in France.

The article also critiques Flávio Bolsonaro, describing him as the “personification of the establishment” despite his anti-system rhetoric, noting that his political career is largely attributed to his surname. Additionally, the report mentions Eduardo Bolsonaro, who is noted for maintaining contact with allies of Donald Trump while living in the United States.
