Stevan Jovetic reveals failed negotiations with Lecce
Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetic has revealed that a potential transfer to Lecce last spring reached an advanced stage before falling through. Jovetic confirmed in an interview that he was interested in returning to Serie A and had even visited the Via del Mare stadium and the club's facilities to inspect the structures.
The deal was reportedly driven by executive Pantaleo Corvino, who had previously brought Jovetic to Fiorentina. However, the negotiations collapsed following Corvino's departure from the club.
In the same interview, Jovetic reflected on his career, noting that he previously turned down opportunities to join Juventus and Real Madrid during his tenure at Fiorentina. He expressed regret over declining Real Madrid, stating that a subsequent knee injury shortly after that decision significantly impacted his career trajectory.
