Stevan Jovetic reveals he rejected Real Madrid while at Fiorentina

Stevan Jovetic, the former Montenegrin striker, has revealed in a recent interview that he turned down an offer from Real Madrid during his time with Fiorentina. Speaking on the occasion of the club's centenary, Jovetic explained that during his second year in Italy, he did not feel ready for such a significant career step.

Jovetic noted that he was focused on finding continuity and stability in Florence at the time, intending to mature further before making a major move. He expressed a deep, lasting connection to the city of Florence, where he has since purchased a home and maintains many friendships.

Reflecting on his career in Italy, Jovetic recalled the challenges of transitioning from Serbian football to Serie A as an 18-year-old. He highlighted key moments from his tenure with the Viola, including significant goals in the Champions League against teams such as Sporting Lisbon, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, as well as his mental resilience following injury setbacks.
