Steve Chailloux resigns from A Fano Tià political group

Steve Chailloux, a representative in the Assembly of French Polynesia, has officially resigned from the political group A Fano Tià. In a three-page letter addressed to group president Tematai Le Gayic, Chailloux cited a “rupture of confidence” and expressed deep frustrations regarding the party's internal governance.

Chailloux criticized the party's leadership, specifically targeting Moetai Brotherson. He alleged that the party's statutes were drafted by a restricted group rather than the promised collaborative working group of technicians and elected officials. He further noted that the party's ideological focus centers on economic, food, and energy sovereignty, while failing to prioritize political sovereignty and the right to self-determination for the Mā’ohi people.

Additionally, Chailloux addressed the failed reconciliation attempt initiated in June by Oscar Temaru, suggesting that responsibility for the failure should not rest solely on one individual. Following his departure from A Fano Tià, Chailloux intends to return to his former political affiliation, Tāvini Huiraatira.
