Yokohama F. Marinos defeat Fukushima United in Emperor's Cup

In the second round of the Emperor's Cup, J1 club Yokohama F. Marinos defeated J3 side Fukushima United FC 1-0 at Nissan Stadium. The decisive goal was scored by defender Kosei Suwama in the 35th minute following a corner kick.

The match featured a notable generational gap, though a direct on-field confrontation between 59-year-old Fukushima legend Kazuyoshi Miura and 16-year-old Yokohama rookie Shin Miidera did not occur as both players started on the bench. However, the two exchanged jerseys after the match.

Yokohama F. Marinos manager Steve Corica, who was a former teammate of Miura at Sydney FC in 2005, expressed respect for the veteran's continued professional career. Yokohama F. Marinos advances to the third round to face Kyoto Sangyo University.

Separately, the Japan Football Association announced squad updates for the U-19 Japan national team ahead of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers. Midfielder Makoto Himeno has withdrawn from the squad due to injury, and will be replaced by Kawasaki Frontale's Tokuharu Seki.
