Steve Echendu family announces funeral arrangements in Nigeria

The family of late Nollywood actor, producer, and director Steve Odinaka Echendu has released a three-day funeral schedule for the 52-year-old filmmaker. The ceremonies will take place in his hometown of Umuokwara Umuohiri, located in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

The program begins with a wake-keep on November 27, followed by the main burial ceremony and lying-in-state on November 28. The rites will conclude on November 29 with a thanksgiving and outing service. The announcement was signed by his son, Kamsiyochukwu Echendu.

Colleagues in the Nigerian film industry have paid tribute to Echendu, noting his professional contributions during the formative years of Nollywood. His film credits include titles such as ‘Knockout Blessing’, ‘Fury’, and ‘Infant at Heart’. The family has not publicly disclosed the cause of death.
