Steve Jobs eighth-grade science project sells for $34,375

A science project created by Steve Jobs during his eighth-grade year at Cupertino Junior High has sold at auction for $34,375. The project, titled ‘What is the SCR?’, focuses on the silicon-controlled rectifier, a semiconductor used to control electrical current.

The item consists of a three-part plywood display featuring a wooden model of a thyristor, test circuits demonstrating component principles, and a 25-ampere rectifier diagram. It also includes a ten-page written report dated February 29, 1968. The project was offered by Jobs’ stepbrother, John Chovanec.

The sale occurred alongside other high-value Apple memorabilia at RR Auction. Notable items included an Apple-1 computer that sold for $499,363, a ‘stealth iPod’ prototype for $91,479, and a signed business card that reached $156,658.
