Steve Lacy releases highly anticipated third album “Oh Yeah?”
Grammy‑winning singer‑songwriter Steve Lacy, known for his 2022 hit “Bad Habit” and a sold‑out world tour, has issued his third solo album “Oh Yeah?”. After setting a self‑imposed deadline of 20 April 2024, Lacy spent four years refining the record, moving away from quick‑hook songwriting toward more intense, collaborative lyricism. The label’s push yielded the breakbeat‑infused single “Nice Shoes”, and Lacy promoted the album from a London hotel, noting his new habit of reading queer and female authors to inform his work. The album reflects a broader artistic evolution that began with his early success in the Internet and early Grammy nomination at age 17.
Lacy described the process as compulsive rather than disciplined, saying he “makes music every day” and refuses to “just say anything” for a hook. The release follows his previous Grammy‑winning record “Gemini Rights”, which won Best Progressive R&B Album in 2023.
