Steve Witkoff announces successful round of indirect talks with Iran

Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy, announced the successful conclusion of a round of discussions with an Iranian delegation on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. While the specific identities of the mediating nations were not disclosed, recent intermediaries in Washington-Tehran communications have included Oman, Qatar, and Pakistan.

Reports indicate that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had previously submitted proposals to mediators to resume talks. Additionally, Donald Trump noted that the sessions involving Witkoff and Jared Kushner with mediators were highly productive, expressing optimism that an agreement could be reached.
