Steven Assanti: The controversial participant of ‘My 600-lb Life’

Steven Assanti, a participant in the documentary series ‘My 600-lb Life’ aired on TLC and HBO Max, has gained notoriety for his extreme weight and volatile behavior. Born in Rhode Island in 1981, Assanti’s struggle with food began as a coping mechanism for a dysfunctional upbringing involving parental divorce and abuse.

Assanti reached a weight of approximately 363 kilograms (800 lbs) and became known for his disruptive conduct in medical settings, including abusing hospital staff. His journey included a failed attempt at a weight-loss program in Rhode Island, where he was discharged after secretly ordering food, and a later appearance in Houston alongside his brother, with their combined weight exceeding 635 kilograms.
