Steven Bryant sentenced to probation for 2019 Harding Street raid

Former Houston police officer Steven Bryant has been sentenced to five years of probation in connection with the 2019 Harding Street raid. Bryant previously pleaded guilty to a federal charge of obstructing justice by falsifying records.

The deadly incident occurred on January 28, 2019, when a botched no-knock drug raid led to the deaths of Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas in their southeast Houston home. The raid also resulted in injuries to four police officers.

Bryant was accused of falsifying a supplemental case report to claim he had assisted fellow officer Gerald Goines in the investigation and misidentifying narcotics. Goines, who was also involved in the raid, was convicted of the murders of Tuttle and Nicholas and is currently serving a 60-year prison sentence.
