Steven Cheung reveals severe financial and family struggles
Hong Kong entertainer Steven Cheung and his wife, Au Yin-man, have opened up about the severe financial and emotional struggles they have faced during their seven years of marriage. The couple, who have four sons, revealed in an interview with East Week that they have dealt with significant debt and the pressures of raising children with special needs, including one son diagnosed with autism and ADHD.
To support the family, Cheung has transitioned from entertainment work to manual labor, including construction, moving, and delivery services. He recounted a humiliating experience at a money lender where he was mocked and asked to sing his song ‘Dead to Change’ in exchange for interest reductions. The family has faced housing instability, with Cheung noting that some landlords have refused to rent to him due to his financial reputation.
The couple currently manages their household by sleeping in separate rooms to better care for their children. While Au has expressed a desire to apply for government social assistance to ensure stability, Cheung remains committed to self-reliance, aiming to lose weight and return to the music industry to earn a living.
