Steven Lawani claims ministerial appointment promise was unfulfilled

Former Benue State Deputy Governor Steven Lawani has alleged that he was promised a ministerial position within President Bola Tinubu’s administration but was ultimately excluded from the final list of nominees.

Lawani stated that he was approached by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, to lead the presidential campaign in Benue State. He noted that he returned from a holiday in Dubai specifically to assist the All Progressives Congress (APC) in securing victory for Tinubu. Despite dedicating several months to the campaign efforts, Lawani claims he was informed only days before the official announcement that his name had been removed from the ministerial shortlist.

Lawani, who served as deputy governor between 2007 and 2011, mentioned that he was later offered a diplomatic role as an ambassador, a position which he declined.
