Steven Stamkos climbs NHL all-time goal list

Nashville Predators centre Steven Stamkos has moved into 17th place on the NHL’s all-time goal list. During a 5-4 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the 36-year-old scored twice to reach 627 career goals.

With this performance, Stamkos broke a tie with Joe Sakic and Jarome Iginla. He currently sits 13 goals behind Dave Andreychuk for the 16th position on the all-time list. Stamkos, who was drafted first overall in 2008, has recorded six other seasons with at least 40 goals.

Reflecting on the milestone, Stamkos described the achievement as ‘pretty surreal,’ noting that many of the players he is passing were idols during his youth.
