Steven Tyler secures legal victories ahead of sexual abuse trial

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has issued several pretrial rulings in favor of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler ahead of his September 21 trial. The rulings significantly limit the scope of the lawsuit filed by Julia Misley, who accuses Tyler of sexual abuse during their relationship in the 1970s.

The judge dismissed the majority of the claims and restricted the evidence Misley can present. Specifically, she is prohibited from discussing an abortion she had during the relationship or alleging sexual assaults that occurred after she turned 18. Additionally, the court ruled she cannot characterize Tyler as a 'criminal' or 'rapist' without sufficient proof, nor can she compare her experiences to the Holocaust.

However, Misley will be permitted to present evidence regarding Tyler’s alleged role as her guardian, including promises of support for education and medical needs. She may also testify regarding drug and alcohol consumption during alleged incidents in California. During her deposition, Misley claimed she was groomed by a woman named Pennie, who allegedly prepared her for sexual encounters before she met Tyler.
