Stevns Municipality faces 40 million DKK budget deficit

The Stevns Municipal Council is facing a projected budget deficit of approximately 40 million DKK. Despite improvements in local employment and a more favorable demographic composition, the municipality must find significant savings for the upcoming year.

Mayor Anette Mortensen noted that while increased tax revenues from a previous tax hike are now being fully realized, they are insufficient to offset a reduction in state subsidies and equalization payments. Previous projections from KL and the state suggested the municipality would receive 10 million DKK more in equalization, but updated calculations indicate a requirement to pay 11 million DKK instead, creating a 21 million DKK discrepancy.
