Stewart Copeland discusses tensions during The Police reunion tour
Drummer Stewart Copeland has reflected on the internal friction experienced during The Police's 2007-08 reunion tour. Speaking on Billy Corgan’s podcast, 'The Magnificent Others', Copeland noted that the band faced backstage arguments and 'screaming matches' due to differing musical perspectives between himself and Sting.
To manage these tensions, Copeland and Sting participated in group therapy sessions during the tour. Copeland credited these sessions with helping the band maintain civility.
Despite the interpersonal difficulties, the reunion was a significant commercial success. The tour spanned 27 countries, included more than 150 concerts, and earned approximately $362 million, making it one of the most profitable tours in history.
