Stewart Copeland embraces heavy metal and releases animal-themed album

The Police drummer Stewart Copeland has expressed a newfound appreciation for heavy metal music. Previously critical of the genre, Copeland stated that the technical skills found in death metal and the energy of aggressive music now provide him with motivation.

Copeland specifically praised drummers Joey Jordison and Eloy Casagrande, noting that Casagrande is among his current favorites.

In a separate musical endeavor, Copeland has collaborated with naturalist Martyn Stewart on a project titled ‘Wild Concerto’. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, the album integrates musical compositions with an extensive archive of animal recordings, including sounds from hyenas, monkeys, and owls, to create a fusion of music and nature.
