STF President Edson Fachin reviews Banco Master and INSS fraud cases

Edson Fachin, President of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), has ordered that legal proceedings involving Banco Master and suspected fraud within the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) be transferred to his office for review. These cases were previously under the rapporteurship of Minister André Mendonça. Fachin has suspended all monocratic decisions regarding these procedures while he analyzes the case files, though he has not yet officially assumed permanent rapporteurship.

Simultaneously, the Prosecutor General's Office (PGR) has petitioned Fachin to clarify whether all relevant data in the Banco Master inquiry has been made available to the Court. The PGR is seeking to determine if a request made by the Federal Police in March regarding financial intelligence reports was processed and if any subsequent decisions or documents were withheld from the other ministers' view. The inquiry specifically concerns financial information related to banker Daniel Vorcaro.
