sThesis receives up to 1.5 million euros for hormone sensor development

sThesis GmbH has been selected as one of eight international teams to receive up to 1.5 million euros from the Federal Agency for Leap Innovations (SPRIND). The funding is part of a challenge to develop new sensor technologies for continuous hormone measurement.

Working under the project name ‘Non-invasive Continuous Endocrine Phenotyping’, the Munich-based team is partnering with Helmholtz Munich, TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar, and LMU Klinikum. The goal is to create non-invasive biosensors capable of continuously measuring at least four hormones over a seven-day period using materials such as sweat, saliva, or tissue fluid.

Unlike current methods that rely on periodic blood or urine samples, these continuous sensors aim to track hormonal fluctuations related to stress, sleep, diet, and daily cycles. This could improve early disease detection and support precision medicine and AI-driven diagnostics. The first phase of the funding begins in July 2026.
