Stichting Donorkind considers legal action against mass donor Simon

Stichting Donorkind is considering legal action against a mass donor known as Simon on behalf of thirty parents and their children. The foundation intends to first invite the man to a meeting to attempt to reach an agreement and avoid litigation.

The foundation seeks formal commitments to ensure Simon ceases further donations and provides information to all affected parents. They are also seeking compensation for the parents. If an agreement is not reached, the foundation plans to pursue the matter in court, citing a 2023 precedent involving donor Jonathan Meijer, who was ordered to pay a fine for continued donations.

Ties van der Meer, chairman of Stichting Donorkind, stated that the foundation is taking steps that the government and clinics failed to take. He noted that the initiative aims to protect children by allowing parents to connect and helping children manage relationships with a large number of half-siblings.
