Stick Run creator Manuel Otto dies during Twitch livestream

Manuel Otto, the 30-year-old German developer behind the popular browser game Stick Run, has died following an incident during a Twitch livestream in Bavaria. The Stick Run team confirmed Otto’s passing in a statement, noting that he appeared to have taken his own life while broadcasting.

Otto gained prominence after creating Stick Run at age 14, releasing the free-to-play title on Facebook in 2010. The game eventually reached over 43 million players worldwide across mobile and desktop platforms.

Twitch has removed the livestream and archived video from its platform. A spokesperson for the company stated, “What took place is horrible, and the mental health and wellbeing of our community matters deeply to us,” adding that they encourage those struggling to seek support. Local reports indicated that Otto's body was discovered after a fire broke out at a property in Bavaria.
