Stiftung Warentest has conducted a comparative study of 18 email providers, evaluating both free and paid services based on storage capacity and data privacy. The test included 8 free providers and 10 paid options, with monthly subscription costs for paid services ranging from approximately one to five euros.
Among the paid providers, four received a 'Good' rating, while the remaining six were rated 'Satisfactory'. All eight free providers received a 'Satisfactory' rating. The top three paid providers were Posteo (score 1.7), Mailbox Light tariff (score 1.8), and Web.de MailPlus tariff (score 2.4). Both Posteo and Mailbox offer services for one euro per month.
