Stiftung Warentest evaluates Merino outdoor shirts
Stiftung Warentest has completed a comprehensive evaluation of twelve Merino functional shirts, including both pure Merino wool and blend varieties. The testing focused on odor resistance, breathability, durability, drying speed, and fit.
Two models shared the top rating of 1.9: the Odlo Merino 200 Base Layer T-Shirt and the Ortovox 150 Cool Brand TS, both priced at 90 euros. For consumers seeking a more budget-friendly option, the Devold Lauparen Merino 190 Base Tee was highlighted as a price tip, costing 60 euros and earning a rating of 2.4. Devold also received high marks for corporate responsibility, specifically for using mulesing-free wool.
The overall quality of the tested products was high, with seven models rated as good, four as satisfactory, and one as sufficient. Beyond product performance, the study also assessed corporate social responsibility (CSR) regarding animal welfare, labor conditions, and environmental protection, with results ranging from good to deficient.
