Stiliyan Petrov declines coaching offer from CSKA Sofia

Former Bulgarian national team record holder Stiliyan Petrov revealed in the FootballStorycast podcast that he recently declined a coaching offer from CSKA Sofia. Petrov stated that if he were to work for a Bulgarian club, it would only be CSKA, given his history with the team.

Petrov also discussed previous opportunities, including a conversation with Metodi Tomov regarding a potential role at Ludogorets, which did not result in an agreement. He mentioned a prior offer from Pavel Kolev during his time at the Bulgarian Football Union, noting that he was not physically or mentally prepared for such a role at the time due to undergoing three years of medical treatment.

Regarding his most recent interaction with CSKA, Petrov noted that he spoke with Vangel Vangelov but explained that his current plans are different. He praised CSKA's infrastructural development, suggesting the club is building some of the best stadiums and training bases in the Balkans.
