Stintino: Body of missing 32-year-old fisherman recovered

The body of 32-year-old Marcello Fini has been recovered in a cove near Stintino, following a search operation for the Sassari native who went missing in the sea on Friday, October 9.

Fini, an employee of the security firm Mondialpol, had gone to the Punta Scoglietti area to fish. According to reports, he may have slipped from the rocks due to illness or accident. The alarm was raised around 9:30 AM by two German tourists who witnessed the man struggling in the waves before he disappeared.

Search efforts, coordinated by the Porto Torres Coast Guard, involved divers, patrol boats, and helicopters from both the Fire Department and the Coast Guard. The operations were significantly hindered by severe weather conditions, including Mistral winds and waves reaching heights of six meters. Fini's identity was confirmed via documents and his vehicle found parked near the site of the incident.
