Lo-ba uses a real individual with a difficult life and a tragic end as a starting point, but fictionalizes the narrative to provide the protagonist with a different conclusion. The lyrics explore themes of social prejudice and intelligence, refuting claims that the subject was unintelligent by highlighting the intuition and acumen gained from life on the streets. The song utilizes semi-fictionalized settings, such as an imaginary ‘Piazza di San Felice’ inspired by a real street in Vicenza, to blend reality with storytelling.
