STJ accepts criminal complaint against TRT-17 Vice President

The Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ) has accepted a criminal complaint against Marise Medeiros Cavalcanti Chamberlain, the Vice President of the Regional Labor Court of the 17th Region (TRT-17). The complaint was filed by four labor judges who claim to have been personally offended by aggressive and intimidating political messages sent by Chamberlain in a WhatsApp group for the National Association of Labor Court Magistrates of the 17th Region (Anamatra-17).

Minister Og Fernandes, the rapporteur for the case, stated there is ‘just cause’ to receive the complaint, noting that the accusations describe specific facts and identify the conduct of the accused. The case is also under investigation by the National Council of Justice (CNJ).

Chamberlain, who is in the line of succession for the Presidency of TRT-17, remains in her position as the STJ denied the request for her precautionary removal, citing a lack of demonstrated immediate necessity for such a measure.
