STJ and Itamaraty launch Brazilian diplomatic-legal memory exhibition
The Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ) and Itamaraty have launched a new exhibition titled ‘Vindouros: STJ e Itamaraty na preservação da memória diplomático-jurídica brasileira’. The exhibition showcases the first historical documents digitized through a technical cooperation agreement between the court and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Key highlights of the collection include the legal opinion that formed the basis of the Itaipu Treaty, a letter from Francisco Solano López to the Brazilian government prior to the Paraguayan War, and documents regarding Brazil’s role in hosting refugees following World War II. The initiative aims to use technology to expand access to historical sources for researchers, students, and citizens via the Digital Legal Library (BDJur).
