Stjepan Jimmy Stanić commemoration held in Zagreb
A commemoration was held at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb to honor the life and career of musician Stjepan Jimmy Stanić. Organized by the Croatian Music Union, the event brought together colleagues, friends, and admirers to celebrate his seven-decade musical journey.
Speakers including Nikša Bratoš, Boris Ciglenečki, and Drago Diklić highlighted Stanić’s contributions to the music scene. Bratoš noted that Stanić was a co-founder of the Croatian Music Union in 1992 and praised his authenticity and lifelong dedication to music. Ciglenečki recalled Stanić’s distinctive baritone and his talent as an entertainer, while Diklić shared how Stanić’s performances influenced his own career.
As a tribute, the Croatian Music Union released a previously unknown recording of a 2017 concert performed by Stanić at the Močvara club in Zagreb. The event also featured video clips and the 2017 documentary film ‘Jimmy’. Stanić, a prominent figure in Croatian entertainment and jazz music, passed away in late August at the age of 98.
