stɑl'əw̓ Pow Wow returns to Langley for fifth annual celebration

The fifth annual stɑl'əw̓ Pow Wow is scheduled to take place at the Langley Events Centre from September 11 to 13. Hosted by the Indigenous women-led stɑl'əw̓ Arts & Cultural Society, the event brings together Indigenous communities from British Columbia, Canada, and the United States for a weekend of cultural celebration.

The gathering will feature singing, drumming, Indigenous art, and food vendors. A highlight of the weekend is the Saturday evening Grand Entry, which is expected to include more than 500 dancers in traditional regalia. The event also includes an all-women's drum group competition and the Miss stɑl'əw̓ pageant to celebrate young Indigenous leaders.

Welcome ceremonies will be led by representatives from the Katzie, Kwantlen, Matsqui, and Semiahmoo First Nations. Organizers describe the event as a way to reclaim identity and reconnect Indigenous communities.
