STM launches final Malaysian corvette in Istanbul

The final corvette of the LMS Batch-2 (Littoral Mission Ship Phase-2) program, named "TUNKU OSMAN JEWA," has been launched at the Istanbul Maritime Shipyard. The project is being led by STM for the Royal Malaysian Navy.

A ceremony attended by high-ranking officials from both nations, including the Sultan of Kedah, the Malaysian Chief of Defence Force, and Deputy Presidents of the Presidency of Defence Industries, marked the milestone. General Datuk Haji Malek Razak bin Sulaiman emphasized that fleet renewal is an urgent necessity for Malaysia's maritime security and trade protection.

The successful launch highlights the strengthening defense partnership between Malaysia and Turkey. Beyond the current corvette program, cooperation is expected to expand into multi-purpose mission ships and command platforms, alongside planned shipyard investments in Malacca.
