STMM Yogyakarta sets MURI record with 1,541 animation characters

Sekolah Tinggi Multi Media (STMM) Yogyakarta has achieved a Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) record for producing the highest number of animation and game characters by students from a single higher education institution. The record recognizes 1,541 unique character designs.

These works were created by 416 students from the Animation and Game Technology study program between 2021 and 2026 as part of their Character Design coursework. The collection exceeded the initial target of 1,441 characters. The designs have been compiled into a book titled ‘Desain Karakter Animasi dan Game’ (Animation and Game Character Design), which was organized by lecturer Atmaja Septa Miyosa.

The achievement was announced during the university's 41st anniversary and the first graduation period of the 2026/2027 academic year. STMM Chairperson Agung Harimurti stated that the initiative aims to establish the institution as a ‘1000 IP (Intellectual Property) Campus’ and to foster the digital creative industry ecosystem in Indonesia.
