Stock markets in Venezuela and Ecuador report growth

Stock markets in Venezuela and Ecuador are experiencing notable shifts in investor activity and transaction volumes.

In Venezuela, the Bolsa de Valores de Caracas (BVC) reported significant growth during the first seven months of 2026. President José Grasso Vecchio stated that the number of investors rose from 3,500 in 2024 to over 18,000 in 2026. Additionally, equity operations increased from 42,000 in 2024 to more than 252,000 in the current period. Vecchio attributed this growth to new alliances and international market credibility, noting that the exchange is seeking regulatory improvements to support further economic development.

In Ecuador, the stock market reached a historic milestone in 2025, with trading volumes hitting $18,227.6 million, a 15.71% increase over 2024. Data from the Bolsa de Valores de Quito (BVQ) shows that while the state (58%), banks (32%), and corporations (10%) are increasingly using the market for financing, individual participation remains limited. Currently, the Ecuadorian market shows a heavy preference for fixed-income instruments, which accounted for 99.2% of the volume traded in 2025.
