Stock markets see shifts in Mozambique and Brazil

The Mozambique Stock Exchange (BVM) reported a 0.35% decrease in market capitalization for the week of August 17 to 21, 2026, totaling 236,381.78 million Meticais. Despite this weekly dip, the BVM shows an 18.1% year-on-year growth in capitalization. Notable stock movements included EMOSE, which rose by 13.33%, and the Companhia Moçambicana de Hidrocarbonetos (CMH), which increased by 6.25%.

In Brazil, foreign investor participation in the B3 stock exchange fell to 57.5% in August, the lowest level recorded in 2026. This represents a 2.2 percentage point drop from July. While international investors remain the largest group of participants, the foreign capital flow recorded a negative balance of R$ 21.4 billion in August. Conversely, institutional investors, including investment funds and insurance companies, increased their market share to 26.7%.
