Stockholm files police report against Moderaterna party

The City of Stockholm has filed a police report against the Moderaterna political party following an unconventional advertising campaign in the capital. The party utilized ‘reverse graffiti’—a method where stencils and high-pressure washers are used to clean messages into dirty surfaces—at ten different pedestrian crossings.

One of the locations targeted was outside the Social Democratic Party headquarters on Sveavägen. The campaign, conducted in collaboration with the company Nordic Murals, focused on political messages regarding sentencing discounts.

Stockholm's Traffic Department (Trafikkontoret) stated that under local public order regulations, it is prohibited to display messages in public spaces without a permit. The department assessed that creating messages through washing is equivalent to graffiti and has since removed the messages in accordance with the city's graffiti policy.
