Stockholm public employers differ on Pride participation during work hours

Public employers in Sweden have applied different standards regarding whether employees may participate in Stockholm Pride during working hours.

While the Swedish Police, the Armed Forces, and the Greater Stockholm Fire Brigade stated that their staff participated during their free time, the City of Stockholm and Region Stockholm reported participation during regular working hours. The City of Stockholm, acting as the official host and main partner, utilized approximately 20 employees for tasks such as seminar activities and cleaning services, citing the city's mission to be an open and inclusive environment.

Region Stockholm also reported that some staff participated as part of their official duties, such as through information outreach from youth clinics. The region noted that while participation in the parade itself occurred during employees' free time, certain professional activities were integrated into their work mandate.
