Stockhorn peak to join Alpine Green Train route

The Swiss company BLS AG has introduced a new travel initiative for the Stockhorn, a 2,190-meter peak in the Bernese Prealps. The ‘Alpine Green Train’ project combines rail travel with a cable car ascent to provide easier access to the summit.

Starting September 15, 2026, an integrated ticket will be available, allowing travelers to reach the peak using public transport. Routes can begin as far as Domodossola in Italy, traveling through the Simplon pass and into the Bernese Oberland via Spiez. From Spiez, regional trains connect to Erlenbach im Simmental, which is a short walk from the Stockhorn cable car station.

The itinerary offers views of Lake Thun, the Simme Valley, and the Jura mountains. On clear days, the Black Forest in Germany is also visible from the mountain's north-facing panoramic platform.
