Stokrotka tests self-service model for non-trading Sundays

The Polish retail chain Stokrotka is testing a new operational model to allow selected stores to remain open during non-trading Sundays. Under this pilot program, stores operate in a fully self-service mode using automated checkouts.

To comply with current Sunday trading restrictions, the company does not assign retail employees or staff engaged in trade-related activities to work on these days. Instead, the premises are secured by personnel from an external security firm who manage customer entry. Due to legal limitations, customers are unable to purchase alcohol, tobacco products, or energy drinks during these self-service Sunday sessions.

Stokrotka stated that it is continuously developing actions to meet changing customer needs and facilitate daily shopping. The testing of this model has been noted in locations such as Warsaw.
