Ston hosts symposium on Adriatic salt pan cultural landscapes

The 10th anniversary of the Salt Festival concluded in Ston with a symposium titled ‘Cultural Landscapes of Adriatic Salt Pans: Valorization, Preservation, and Sustainable Development’. The event was organized in collaboration with the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media, Europa Nostra Croatia, Europa Nostra EU, the University of Dubrovnik, the Municipality of Ston, and the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.

Experts and officials discussed the intersection of nature, humanity, and heritage. Presentations covered the role of the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities in restoring Ston's heritage, the biodiversity of the Ston salt pans, and the integration of heritage with modern spatial planning. The symposium also featured comparative studies on the protection of the Pag salt pans in Croatia and the cultural landscapes of the salt pans in Tivat.
