Stony Brook beats Rhode Island 56-24 in CAA opener
Stony Brook defeated Rhode Island 56-24 in their Coastal Athletic Association opener on Saturday. CJ Hester led the Seawolves with four rushing touchdowns, tying a program record. Jeremiah Coney contributed three rushing touchdowns to the victory.
Quinn Boyd served as the team's leading ballcarrier with 153 rushing yards on 14 carries, while also adding 198 passing yards and a touchdown. Hester finished with 77 rushing yards, and Coney recorded 90 rushing yards. James Dely added 89 receiving yards, including a 69-yard touchdown.
Rhode Island, which entered the game ranked No. 8 in the Stats Perform poll, saw Tyler Budge throw for 209 yards and a touchdown to Marquis Buchanan, who finished with 124 receiving yards. With this win, Stony Brook moves to a 2-2 record and 1-0 in conference play.
