Stop Biogás Jiloca opposes Calamocha biomethane plant project
The Stop Biogás Jiloca platform has expressed opposition to a proposed biomethane plant project in Calamocha, Spain. While the group acknowledges the need to manage pig slurry, they argue that the current project by Moeve is not a viable solution.
Critics point to technical concerns regarding the project's output, noting that the nitrogen concentration in the liquid digestate is expected to be higher than that of the input slurry. This would require over 4,500 hectares for spreading the digestate, leading the platform to question the project's effectiveness in addressing nitrate water pollution. The group has also called for transparency regarding the local government's official stance on the matter.
