The national Stoptober campaign has launched, with local health authorities in the United Kingdom encouraging residents to quit smoking.
In Bracknell Forest, the council is promoting Smokefreelife Berkshire, a service providing free expert support, including one-to-one advice, personalized quit plans, and access to the Quit with Bella digital app. Local officials noted that smoking remains a leading cause of death and ill health in the UK, with approximately 14,162 adults estimated to be smokers in the Bracknell Forest borough.
In Scotland, NHS Lanarkshire is utilizing its Quit Your Way service to offer tailored assistance. The program provides confidential advice and access to free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), such as patches, gum, and lozenges. The service aims to support individuals through practical guidance and accountability to help them achieve long-term smoke-free lifestyles.
