Store detective assaulted in Mödling during theft, Slovak suspect extradited
On 4 March a theft of sportswear worth a three‑digit amount occurred at a shop in Brunn am Gebirge, in the Mödling district of Lower Austria. A 33‑year‑old store detective who had observed the thieves followed them to their car with Slovak licence plates. During the confrontation he was kicked and punched in the face and, as he tried to block the vehicle, the female suspect accelerated, dragging him several metres.
The detective received outpatient treatment at a hospital. The 30‑year‑old Slovak woman was identified, arrested in Slovakia on 29 May under a European arrest warrant and extradited to Austria the following Thursday. She partially confessed during interrogation and was taken to the Wiener Neustadt correctional facility. Police continue to investigate the unidentified male accomplice.
