Storj Labs Files Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, Keeps Decentralized Storage Running

Storj Labs, the provider of the Storj decentralized cloud storage network, filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on July 26, 2026 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of West Virginia (case No. 5:26‑bk‑00512). The filing is intended to restructure legacy liabilities estimated at $1‑10 million, while the company’s assets and ongoing operations are expected to continue unchanged.

The company affirmed that its storage network, customer services, and the STORJ token utility will remain functional throughout the restructuring. Parent firm Inveniam Capital Partners will continue to finance Storj during the process. Management also said it is considering a model that could grant STORJ token holders equity in the reorganized entity, though details have not yet been set.

Following the announcement, the STORJ token dropped roughly 17 % to about $0.06‑$0.07. Independent node operators, who run the network’s hardware, now have pre‑petition earnings frozen and must file claims in the bankruptcy proceeding. Storj plans to divest non‑core acquisitions and focus on its core decentralized storage business.
